Kais Al-Algawi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and the Lead Clinician & Surgeon for Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus in Abu Dhabi. He has been performing neonatal procedures including congenital glaucoma, congenital cataract and advanced Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). He is currently an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Gulf Medical University.
Dr. Al-Algawi was graduated from Baghdad University in 1981.
He won a scholarship to study and train in Ophthalmology in the UK & Ireland in 1987. He successfully obtained many degrees in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons in Ireland, The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh & The Royal College of Ophthalmologist in London.
His training was in Ireland and the UK and completed a 2-year concurrent Fellowships in Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus at the Children’s University Hospital at Temple Street, Dublin as well as Laser Refractive Surgery at the Mater University Hospital in Dublin. He earned an MSc degree in Clinical Education from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK.
Dr Al-Algawi published numerous papers and presented in over 35 international Conferences. His most recent ongoing work has been on the field of Retinopathy of Prematurity.
He has a vast medical and surgical experience in Comprehensive Ophthalmology and in the field of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
